Cherish Food Programme to change peoples’ consumption habits

Problem: HUF started the trash sorting programme in 1989 and discovered that between 40-60% of waste are leftovers.
Solution: HUF started the Cherish Food Programme in 2013 to educate the public by informing people of the importance in reducing food loss and waste from farm to fork.
- The Cherish Food Programme included doing surveys, publishing handbooks, holding forums, implementing food education and training programmes for women.
- In the training programme, the HUF invites people to take photos of their fridge and try to understand people’s consumption habits; furthermore, the HUF encourages the use of ugly or wonky vegetables.
