EU Food Loss and Waste Prevention Hub
Dear readers,
On Sunday 29 September, the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) will be observed for the fifth time.
This year, the international day will highlight the critical need for financing to strengthen efforts to reduce food loss and waste, contribute to achieving climate goals and advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Would you like to get involved and help spread the word? Check out the communication kit with key messages prepared by the European Commission and the Get involved guide prepared by FAO and UNEP.
In 2021, the European Commission launched the EU Food Loss and Waste Prevention Hub to mark this important day. Today, three years later, the Hub features 570+ resources and news and more than 3100 subscribers stay informed each month about the latest developments in food loss and waste prevention.
Don't miss the latest EU data on food waste, published by the European Statistical Office today!
Last but not least, we are pleased to announce the launch of European food waste campaign Zero Waste, More Taste! The highlight of the campaign is the publication of our cookbook which features 27 recipes created by European chefs, designed to help you cut waste and prepare delicious meals. The recipe book is accompanied by ten short video reels that will be used for social media.
Happy International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste!
