OBJECTIVES
The main purpose of the seminar is to review the current status and future perspectives of reducing postharvest losses in fishery and livestock supply chain in the Asia Pacific region. Successful business models will be introduced and promoted to APEC economies. It is designed to promote and to identify key strategies for all stakeholders, from public, private, and academic sectors to exchange ideas and application experiences, and to find global partners promoting postharvest technology in fishery and livestock. It also serves to foster communication among smallholders, business groups, researchers and decision makers for further collaborations in loss assessment methodologies and toolkit development and for working in a wide variety of agricultural trade and sustainable development related policy issues.
Contents of the seminar contain basic research, current trends, best practices & business models, and enabling environment on the use of postharvest technology in fishery and livestock supply chain for ensuring food security and safety. In addition, policies and development strategies will be discussed and delivered to the APEC Agricultural Technical Cooperation Working Group (ATCWG), Policy Partnership on Food Security (PPFS), and High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and the Blue Economy (HLPD-FSBE).
