Rolling Out Food Logistic Centers

Product Type: Fisheries, Livestock
Stage: Handling & Storage, Distribution & Market
Problem: Loss and waste throughout storage, transportation, and distribution of products
Solution: Implement centralization of logistics to optimize management of food supply chain

  1. CELA is a new business model of wholesale trade in food, replacing sets of warehouses from Mexico’s Central de Abasto. The Food Logistics Center (CELA, Spanish acronym) is a logistics distribution center equipped with refrigerated warehouses, providing information and communication technologies for the optimal management of purchases and inputs, sales and outputs, store inventory management, and order preparation for networks of retail customers. CELA also provides a fleet of vehicles for distribution. The implementation of a national network of Food Logistics Centers reduces transportation time and improves efficiency of distribution, reducing spoilage waste and loss.
